Your Cassa-plantain, Our Fufu

Your Corn, Our Asaana

Maize is one of the staple foods in many parts of the world, with its production growing largely over rice and other cereals. It is used for the production of many products such as corn ethanol, bird feed, corn syrup, starch and so on. One popular use of this staple food is for the production of popcorn. Do you know it is also used for making drinks😁... Lets check em out 😉

In Ghana, Asaana is one of the most popular corn drinks produced since "/tɪtɪ/" (a very long time).
Mostly consumed around the coastal parts of the country, Asaana has an unmatched natural taste that keeps you going during the dry season.
fermented corn
The drink is basically made from fermented corn and caramelized sugar(sugar syrup).
Fresh corn is crushed and soaked into water for about three or more days for it to ferment. The fremented solution is then boiled for about half an hour or more till the foam on top clears.

caramelized sugar
Sugar is then poured into a saucepan to be heated until it turns into a dark brown syrup. Water from the boiled fermented corn is then strained from it and added to the sugar syrup.
The solution is stirred evenly and cooled kept in the fridge for the final stage, the chilling process😜.
Best served Ice Cold with ice cubes and milk(optional) Asaana is the drink for you😋
